Instructional Aide
JOB TITLE: Instructional Aide - Super Sub
REPORTS TO: Principal, Director of Learning, Superintendent
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Properly trained paraprofessionals can play essential roles in improving student achievement in schools where they can reinforce and enhance a teacher's effort in the classroom. An Instructional Aide - Super Sub will monitor classroom instruction, but not limited to provide individual students with support for the tasks assigned by the teacher. Fill-in for classroom teachers on a daily basis. Take attendance by period, monitor classroom instruction.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Instructional Capacity
- Fill-in classroom teachers on a daily basis
- Monitor classroom instruction
- Take attendance by period
- Follow procedures outlined in the BNL Student Handbook
- Effectively manage classroom behaviors
- Fill-in for Support Personnel as Needed
- Assist Administrators, Counselors, and TEachers as Needed
- Provide one-on-one tutoring if such tutoring is scheduled at a time when a student would not otherwise receive instruction from a teacher. Instructional Aide may assist students in the classroom setting under the direct supervision of a classroom teacher.
- Assist with classroom management, such as by organizing instructional materials. An Instructional Aide is available to help distribute and manage classroom materials of all identified students.
- Maintain individual records for identified students.
- Provide instructional support in a library or media center.
- Provide instructional support services under the direct supervision of a highly qualified teacher. Paraprofessionals may assist the classroom teacher by working with identified students individually or in group instruction. Because paraprofessionals provide instructional support, they should not be providing planned direct instruction or introducing to students new skills, concepts, or academic content.
- Support and implement all policies and regulations as designed by each respective school and NLCS.
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of classroom teachers.

- Direct instruction from the classroom teacher.
Student Support
- Is positive in working with identified children and helps build their self-esteem.
- Guides students in working and playing harmoniously with other students.
- Has the ability to make use of a variety of resources to assist identified students in meeting their goals.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver's License
- Pass a background check
- Demonstrates a desire to aid all students
- New Hire Packet with Administration Building
- Two years of passing college credits or pass the Paraprofessional Test
- Substitute permit
Skills & Knowledge
- Possesses knowledge and skill sufficient to assist participants in meeting content and performance standards.
Experience
- 2 years of passing college credits or pass the Paraprofessional Test.
