BNL Varsity Boys Assistant Swim Coach

Position Overview:

BNL High School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Varsity Boys Assistant Swim Coach to support and develop our Boys' Varsity Swim team. The Assistant Coach will play a crucial role in the growth and success of our swim program, working closely with student-athletes to enhance their skills, instill sportsmanship, and promote teamwork. Responsibilities:

Coaching: Assist in planning and conducting swim practices, focusing on skill development, stroke technique, and overall swimming fundamentals. Provide instruction on swim techniques, rules, and strategies to enhance swimmers' performance.

Meet Preparation: Help analyze opponents, strategize for swim meets, and prepare the team for various swimming events and competitions.

Player Development: Offer swimmers personalized coaching and constructive feedback, helping them improve their swimming skills, mental toughness, and understanding of the sport.

Attendance: Attend all team practices, swim meets, tournaments, and other related events, which may include occasional weekend travel.

Team Culture: Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and respect for fellow team members, competitors, and the swimming community.

Team Management: Assist in organizing team events, fundraisers, and community engagement activities that support the swim program.

Academic Monitoring: Keep track of student-athletes' academic progress and well-being, offering guidance and support to ensure their success both academically and athletically.

Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to school and district policies regarding athlete conduct, safety, and eligibility.

Logistics: Help manage swim equipment, coordinate practice and meet schedules, and perform other logistical tasks related to the swim program.

Qualifications:

Swimming Experience: Previous experience swimming, preferably at a competitive level, with a strong understanding of swim rules, techniques, and strategies.

Coaching Experience: Coaching experience is advantageous, especially in high school or equivalent settings.

Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively convey instructions, provide feedback, and interact with swimmers, parents, coaching staff, and school administration.

Leadership: A positive and collaborative approach to coaching, demonstrating leadership on and off the pool deck.

Player Development: Ability to motivate and inspire athletes to reach their full potential and develop their swimming skills.

Inclusivity: Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive environment that values diversity and the growth of all team members.

Availability: Available during after-school hours, evenings, and weekends for practices, meets, and team-related activities.
