Job Summary:

The North Lawrence Career Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Temporary Welding Instructor to join our team. The instructor will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction in welding techniques and safety procedures to students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching, strong technical skills, and the ability to engage and inspire students in a hands-on learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement welding curriculum aligned with industry standards and educational goals.
  • Conduct classroom lectures and hands-on demonstrations in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick).
  • Teach students about safety protocols, equipment handling, and proper welding practices.
  • Assess and evaluate student performance through practical exams, projects, and written assessments.
  • Maintain a safe and organized workshop environment, ensuring all equipment is in working order.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering a positive learning atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff to integrate welding skills into broader vocational programs.
  • Stay current with advancements in welding technology and industry trends.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree in welding technology or related field preferred.
  • Relevant certifications in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder) and teaching credentials preferred.
  • Previous teaching or training experience in welding or a related technical field is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of welding techniques, materials, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage students effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Working Conditions:

  • This position may require standing for extended periods and working with welding equipment in a shop environment.
  • Must be able to lift and carry materials as necessary.
