Part Time Position
JOB TITLE: Occupational Therapist
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
Addresses the functional needs of individual students as they relate to sensory, motor, postural, or emotional development, adaptive behavior and play and the performance of self-help skills. These services are designed to improve, restore, or maintain the individual’s functional ability to perform tasks in educational settings. In an education setting, Occupational Therapy services are provided to eligible identified special education students ages 3-21 to benefit from special education or regular education in the least restrictive environment.
- Consult with teachers and other school personnel to ensure that interventions are integrated as part of the classroom activities and curriculum.
- Assists with the development and implementation of IEP goals.
- Develops occupational therapy treatment plans based on the educational goals for eligible students to improve the student’s functional abilities and enhance their ability to learn.
4 Participates in case conference committee meeting and assists with the development of Individualized
- Provides students with individual treatment or group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory-motor integrative dysfunction.
6, Administer occupational therapy assessments to determine a student’s level of functioning in the areas of fine/gross motor skill development, sensory motor integration, self-care, and activities of daily living.
- Application of occupational therapy techniques utilized in the assessment and treatment of children with disabilities.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain therapy records and prepare comprehensive reports.
1 Bachelor's or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with coursework in occupational therapy.
2 Current occupational therapy licensure in the state of Indiana.
3 Knowledge of pediatric conditions and pediatric physical therapy.
4 Knowledge of and compliance with Indiana special education regulations and the procedures used in schools
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1 Requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or persons.
2 Requires the ability to drive between schools in the district.
3 Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
4 Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job. |
